The 1,047 MW gas fired Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Alaoji Power station project located near Aba, was developed by Niger Delta Power Holding. There is a gas transmission pipeline system for the 1,074-Megawatt, MW, combined cycle power plant. The pipeline and process facilities are all operational currently at Aba and Owaza. The Plant is currently undergoing upgrades under PPP with Chrome group, and if once completed, the power plant will supply the remaining local governments in Abia state including Umuahia with 24/7 electricity. The remaining power will go to the South East and Nigeria. According to Chrome Group, the upgrades of Alaoji power plant will take between 18 to 24 months to complete.
There is the recently commissioned 188 MW gas fired Geometric Power Plant in Aba that will nine out of the 17 local government areas in Abia state. There are also existing surface facilities in the Uzuaku area which comprise of the 10-12km oil flowlines, a flow-station, an associated Gathering plant and 17km of oil and gas delivery pipelines.. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronics are o nic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
